Welcome to the Internet presentation of the Chemistry Magic Show Chemistry lecture and an entertainment show. Does that fit together? Since 1995 Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. Rudi van Eldik alias "Magic Rudi" and his team combine teaching chemistry and entertainment into an extraordinary chemistry experience. They present their science discipline from a different point of view and seek to enrich the public image of chemistry by a scarcely known facet, since: Chemistry is fun!So long and thanks for all the chemistry or Time to say Goodbye Unfortunately this year there will be no "Magic Show". Rudi van Eldik, the "Archmage" of Chemistry in Erlangen is going to retire at the end of September. The members of the "Magic Team" will start their own careers and also leave Erlangen. We want to say "thank you" for your long-standing faithful and enthusiastic support of our show. The enormous interest in the Magic Show and chemistry motivated us to always give our best - for chemistry and also for you, our supportive audience. We hope that we could convey a positive impression of natural sciences and of course chemistry to you. Keep us in good memories!
A follow-up to the "Magic Show" is presently still in the stars. But, if you can't wait any longer: Join us here in Erlangen and start studying Chemistry! Fourth honorary doctorate for Prof. van Eldik
The University of Pretoria (South Africa) decorated Prof. Rudi van Eldik with the honorary doctor degree in recognition of his pioneering studies in reaction kinetics and his service to the global science community for more than 30 years, as well as for his exceptional contribution towards finding solutions for pressing environmental and biological problems in the world and Africa.
Honorary doctorate from the Jagiellonian University
On May 26th 2010 the Jagiellonian University in Krakow decorated Prof. Rudi van Eldik with the honorary doctor degree for his outstanding scientific work and his contribution to the graduation of a huge number of Ph.D. students from Poland. On this occasion almost all members of our research group joined a partnership workshop in Krakow (Photos). For Prof. van Eldik this is the third Doctor honoris causa. He is already decorated with a honorary doctorate of the South African Potchefstroom University (1997) and the University of Kragujevac in Serbia (2006).Prof. van Eldik awarded with Cross of Merit In April 2009 Prof. van Eldik was awarded with the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany (Verdienstkreuz am Bande der Bundesrepublik Deutschland) by Germanys President Horst Köhler. Van Eldik was honoured for his outstanding scientific work producing over 700 publications so far, as well as for the Magic Show which attracts the general public for chemistry and furthermore raises high sums for a good cause every year (Press report). |
