Inorganic Chemistry Curriculum |
Starting from the winter semester 2006/07 the University of Erlangen-Nuernberg has changed from a diploma curriculum to a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) programs. The programs meet the guidelines of the Bologna Process of 1999, and thus ECTS points are awarded for all modules completed.
By converting to a Bachelor/Master program the chemistry studies in Erlangen become compatible with other European courses of studies, and the average period of study is substantially reduced in relation to the old Diploma curriculum. The most substantial change in the studies is a concentrated focus on the fundamentals of chemistry. Additionally, the focus has been expanded beyond the basic knowledge of material properties and chemical reactions, and traditional technical skills. There is a new emphasis on developing the skills necessary to communicate scientifically and work in groups to solve problems.
The master's phase of the curriculum is designed to teach students how to lead a research project and to prepare the student for jobs in research and development. Traditionally the subject of chemistry enjoys a very high graduation rate, and we believe that this trend will continue for our graduates. The knowledge and skills you develop during your studies make you a prime candidate for positions in a wide range of industries, which rely on chemistry.
