Centers and Cooperations

Emil Fischer Center (EFC)

The Emil Fischer Center of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg is made up of working groups from pharmaceutical sciences, food chemistry and molecular medicine.

The intention of the Emil Fischer Center is to focus, to crosslink and to force the scientific work on agents, targets and analytics. The main topics are the identification and modeling of target proteins, ligand-protein interactions and signaling through targetproteins.

Furthermore, the Emil Fischer Center coordinates the interdisciplinary education of students and the training of postgraduates within the fields of pharmacy, food chemistry and molecular medicine

Interdisciplinary Center for Molecular Materials (ICMM)

ICMM The Interdisciplinary Center for Molecular Materials (ICMM), established in 2007, is a platform for interdisciplinary research projects in the fields of Molecular Materials and Nanotechnology. Currently, 14 groups from the Chemistry and Physics Departments are involved in the ICMM. The participating scientists possess very strong research expertise in molecular electronics, functional carbon-rich molecular architectures, redox-active metal complexes, light-energy conversion, electron transfer in molecular and supramolecular materials, molecular magnetism, molecules on surfaces, inorganic nanostructures and biomimetic materials.

Interdisciplinary Center for Interface-Controlled Processes (IZ-ICP)

Logo IZ-ICPThe Interdisciplinary center for "Interface-controlled processes" at the University of Erlangen is a joint collaboration of research groups from physics, chemistry and material science, who focus on fundamental material properties, which can be manipulated via the interface between different materials.

The Center focuses on three main topics:
1. Preparation of interface-modified geometric structures (concerns mainly structural properties)
2. Structure-property relationship in interface-modified structures and applications (electronic, optical properties, theoretical descrtptions)
3. Interfaces of particulate systems and interface-stabilized nanoparticles

Institute of Advanced Materials and Processes (ZMP)

Logo ZMP The research of the Institute of Advanced Materials and Processes (Zentralinstitut für Neue Materialien und Prozesstechnik, ZMP) of the University Erlangen-Nuremberg is focused on interdisciplinary topics being located inbetween Material Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry and Physics. In a young an highly innovative environment, new material concepts and the corresponding production techniques concerning lightweight constructional components are developed. The advancement of ideas being formed in fundamental research to the state of prototyping forms the basic goal.
