Christian Schade, Dr., 1985, Schleyer group, BASF Aktiengesellschaft 67056 Ludwigshafen, Germany

1984 work on butyl sodium and syntheses of crystalline organosodium compounds, also computed piles of 1st and 2nd row substituent sweeps. Left Erlangen for PhD work with Herbert Mayr at Uni Lübeck on carbenium ion additions to alkenes. Postdoc with Bob Bergman at UC Berkeley on CH-activation with iridium complexes. Since 1990 BASF, polymer research. First in water soluble polymers, PVP, PAA. Since 1994 engineering plastics. Still wondering why there were so many dying flies in our Henkestrasse third floor lab. Alan McEwen was an outstanding and inspiring labmate.
